How The Magic Happens
You must be wondering how it all goes down. From booking to sparkle, here’s exactly what to expect when you come get jazzy!
-

Pre-Appointment Form & Prep
During booking, you’ll be asked to complete a short pre-appointment questionnaire. This gives us a heads-up on your medical history and oral health, and allows us to make any necessary accommodations to keep your appointment safe & comfortable.
It’s also important that you follow all pre-care instructions outlined in your booking confirmation and below — they play a big part in how well your gem bonds and how long it lasts.
-

Consultation
Every appointment includes a quick consultation to run through your design and placement plan, and to discuss anything flagged by your pre-appointment questionnaire. It’s also your chance to ask as many questions as you’d like!
For more in-depth designs, measurements, or custom orders, please book an official consultation session.
-

Application
This is where the magic happens. We can talk you through the whole process step-by-step if you’re curious, or you can just sit back, relax, and let the tech do the tech-ing. Good music is always on, and for more complex designs and longer appointments, we can take breaks whenever you need!
We’ll double and triple check that you’re happy with the placement and always give you a heads up before the final cure locks it in.
-

Aftercare
Now here’s where you come in! We’ll talk through every step of the aftercare process, and you’ll leave with a card with all the instructions, so you’ve got it to refer back to.
Make sure to be mindful at the start while everything settles, and then just treat it like part of your normal oral health routine. Look after your mouth and teeth well and your gem will stay looking good for the long run!
Pre-Appointment Preparation
A little prep goes a long way! Please follow these instructions before your appointment to get the best possible retention results:
Eat and drink your fill beforehand. You won’t be able to eat or drink anything but water for a couple of hours after your appointment, and we don’t want you getting hangry!
Thoroughly brush and floss your teeth after eating/drinking and prior to your arrival. If any food or bacteria is left on the tooth surface before application, the gem will essentially trap it against your enamel for as long as the gem lasts (up to 2 years!). So the gem itself won’t damage your tooth, but anything left underneath it could have an impact on your enamel health. Brush your gnashers like they depend on it!
After-Care Instructions
Now here’s where you get to work. The first 24–48 hours after your gem application are the most important when it comes to retention, so what you do here really counts. You’ll get an aftercare card to take away, but here’s the breakdown so you know exactly what’s going on.
Don’t touch or play with your gem with your fingers or your tongue (tempting, we know!)
Avoid eating or drinking anything except water.
Snogging? Go for it folks! We’d never get in the way of a good time.
Avoid smoking cigarettes.
0 - 2 hours
Avoid brushing directly on or around the gem or using mouthwash at all.
Stick to soft foods only! No biting directly into hard or sticky foods with your jazzy tooth/teeth.
Avoid coffee and other acidic drinks.
0 - 12 hours
Continue to avoid brushing directly on or around the gem if you use an electric toothbrush.
Use a soft-bristled manual toothbrush instead!
0 - 48 hours
Maintain good oral hygiene - brush, floss, and look after your teeth and gums!
Send photos and leave a review of your Jazzy Gnashers experience - we love to see your sets out in the wild!
FOREVER & ALWAYS
Removal
Not feeling it anymore, or ready to clean the canvas for a fresh new set?
Removal is simple.
Semi-Permanent Tooth Gems
Semi-permanent gems and any remaining dental composite should only be removed by a dental professional, who can safely remove both without damaging your enamel. The process is usually quick, painless, and similar to having orthodontic adhesive removed after braces. In many cases, this can be done as part of a routine hygienist appointment. Please note that Jazzy Gnashers does not currently offer a removal service.
If Your Gem Falls Off Naturally
This is a completely normal part of the tooth gem lifecycle. If the gem comes away with the adhesive attached, there's nothing else you need to do. If any adhesive remains on the tooth, it is clear, harmless, and can be polished away by your dentist at any time.
Temporary Baby Gems
Our temporary Baby Gems can be removed at home whenever you're ready! Simply use clean fingernails, floss, or tweezers to gently pick/slide the gem away from the tooth surface. If any adhesive remains, this can be scratched off with a fingernail or will wear away in time with regular brushing.
