General

  • This depends on the complexity of your design. A single tooth gem typically takes around 15–20 minutes, while more detailed or multi-gem designs may take longer.

  • Absolutely! You're welcome to bring any emotional support human or designated hype person along to your appointment. If they are considering getting a gem themselves, please book consecutive appointments in advance to ensure we have sufficient time available for both treatments. We can't always accommodate additional applications that haven't been booked beforehand.

  • This depends on the type of gem you're receiving (e.g. Semi-Permanent or Temporary Baby Gem). Please refer to the relevant section below for service-specific information.

  • No! All gems and charms we use are tarnish-resistant and will not discolour over time. However, it’s important to maintain good oral hygiene. If the area around your gem isn’t brushed properly, plaque and bacteria can build up, which may cause staining on the surrounding tooth.

  • Yes! You can still have dental cleans, and your dentist can easily work around the gem. Whitening treatments are also fine, but please remember that the area underneath the gem won’t be affected by any whitening.

  • This depends on the type of gem you're receiving — Semi-Permanent or Temporary Baby Gems. Please refer to the relevant section below for service-specific information.

  • Tooth gems don’t bond as reliably to artificial surfaces like crowns, caps, or veneers, so there’s no guaranteed timeframe for how long they will last.

If you’d still like a gem applied to one of these teeth, please book a consultation alongside your appointment so we can assess your teeth and discuss whether we can go ahead.

  • At this stage, we do not offer removal services.

Semi-permanent tooth gems should be removed by a dentist, who can safely remove the gem and polish away any remaining adhesive if required.

If your gem has naturally come off and left behind adhesive or foil backing, there's no need to panic. These remnants aren't harmful and can be removed by your dentist whenever convenient.

  • Not usually. Every tooth gem appointment already includes a brief consultation where we'll review your booking form, discuss placement, and help you choose a design that suits your smile and lifestyle.

Separate consultation appointments are only required for more complex requests, such as custom full-mouth designs or larger pieces that require sizing checks. This is particularly important for items like full tooth caps and windows, which are pre-made and may not fit every tooth shape or size correctly.

  • Absolutely. Many clients arrive with a specific design in mind, while others decide once they see the available gems in person.

We'll help you choose a placement, shape, size and colour that works with your smile, lifestyle, and desired look.

  • Yes. We use dental-grade materials that are commonly used in other dental procedures, and the application process is completely non-invasive. We do not drill into your teeth or permanently alter your enamel in any way. A gentle etch and UV curing light are used during application, which may cause mild temporary sensitivity for some clients.

  • Not at all! The process is quick, gentle, and completely pain-free. You may feel slight sensitivity during or shortly after application, but this is temporary.

  • Don't panic! Tooth gems are very small, lead-free, non-toxic, and made from materials that are safe for use in the mouth. If a gem becomes detached and is swallowed, it will pass naturally through the digestive system without causing any issues.

  • Yes - however, we only offer Temporary Baby Gems to clients under the age of 18. At this time, we do not provide semi-permanent tooth gems to minors. Baby Gems are a fun, temporary alternative that can be removed at home and don't require the same level of commitment.

Clients aged 15 and under must attend with a parent or legal guardian, who will be required to provide consent before treatment.

Semi-Permanent Tooth Gems

  • Semi-permanent tooth gems can last anywhere from 2-24 months when applied to natural teeth. Longevity depends on your aftercare, lifestyle, diet, and natural enamel conditions. It is also affected by the size, shape, and placement of the gem. Larger or more raised designs may not last as long as smaller, flatter gems like a classic Swarovski crystal.

Placement matters too! Areas such as canines or close to the biting edge can experience more wear and may not retain gems as well. We'll discuss the best placement options with you during your appointment.

  • Dentists and hygienists are trained to remove the dental composite used to apply your semi-permanent tooth gems. A dentist can safely remove the gem and polish away any remaining adhesive. Please do not attempt to remove a semi-permanent gem at home.

  • There are three common scenarios:

Option 1: The gem and adhesive come off together
This is the most straightforward outcome. The entire gem has detached cleanly, and there's nothing further you need to do.

Option 2: The gem comes off but the adhesive remains on the tooth
Sometimes the gem can detach while the clear dental adhesive remains behind. This is not harmful and may not even be noticeable. The adhesive can be removed by your dentist at your convenience.

Option 3: The front of the gem comes off, leaving the foil backing and adhesive behind
In some cases, the crystal itself can separate from its backing, leaving a small silver foil layer and adhesive attached to the tooth. This isn't harmful, but it will need to be removed by a dentist when convenient.

If your gem falls off within our 60-day guarantee period, please get in touch and we'll discuss your replacement options.

  • To give your gem the best chance of lasting:

    • Avoid eating anything for 2 hours after application.

    • Stick to softer foods for the first 12 hours where possible.

    • Avoid brushing directly over the gem for the first 12 hours.

    • Continue maintaining excellent oral hygiene.

Detailed aftercare instructions will be provided at your appointment.

temporary Tooth Gems

  • Baby Gems are our temporary tooth gem option, designed for people who want the look without the commitment.

Unlike our semi-permanent tooth gems, Baby Gems are applied using a temporary bonding method and are designed to last anywhere from a few hours to a couple of months. They're perfect for festivals, birthdays, photoshoots, hen dos, themed events, holidays, or simply trying out a tooth gem before committing to a longer-lasting option.

They're also the only tooth gem service we currently offer to clients under 18.

  • Baby Gems typically last anywhere from a few hours to around 1–2 months.

As they're designed to be temporary, every client will have a slightly different experience, depending on lifestyle and diet. Some may lose their gem the same day, while others may enjoy it for several weeks.

  • No. Because our Baby Gems are intentionally designed for short-term wear, our 60-day replacement guarantee does not apply to temporary gems.

  • One of the best things about Baby Gems is that they can be removed at home.

Many will naturally loosen and fall off on their own. If you'd like to remove yours sooner, you can usually do so by gently picking it with clean fingers, sliding a dental flosser behind the gem, or carefully nudging it off with tweezers.

If you feel a little resin or gem backing is still on your tooth, take your fingernail and scratch it off. This will also wear down over time naturally.

Please avoid using excessive force. If your Baby Gem doesn't come away easily, leave it for a few more days and try again later.
